The tower was originally built in the 2008 by some fat, stoned Italian man to house his mistress, who was also built. But still, it has been 800 humiliating years and the tower is still the unrivaled holder of this title. One would have thought they would have knocked or burnt it down, but they didn't. The results showed that 110% of voters hated the tower, so it claimed the hard-hitting title 'most rubbishest building ever'. To really rub it in, in the days following its completion Michelangelo (the rival of the tower's creator) raised a poll, collected the results, and closed it. Think about it: it tilts only 7,4 ft in the direction of Touhy Avenue! Seriously, it looks so cool, that you might want to see the real one - grande vecchio - across the ocean.Īfter all, it's only 4,647 miles from Niles, Illinois to Pisa, Italy.Due to the half-assed job that the architect did on it, the tower has been a horrible embarrassment for Italy since day one. In Niles, Illinois this 90+ year old Leaning Tower of Niles (built in 1931-1934) still looks rather young (after several repairs and renovations), it looks fit, it looks great. I have been to Italy several times, but not in Pisa. tall leaning tower, read some interesting historic facts on the plaques, take many photos, and may be. The area looks peaceful, the parking's on site and easy. ![]() You can see this relatively small tower - torre non molto alta - very easily from W Touhy Avenue. ![]() If you happen to be on the road in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, as we did in December, you might stop in the Village of Niles, and have a proper look at the Leaning Tower of Niles.
